Placemats

Placemat Bee – Saturday, March 23

10 am – 4 pm @ Oliver Road Recreation Centre

Please indicate your interest in attending by contacting Doris Dungan (dorisd@tbaytel.net) or Judy Murphy (judy56@tbaytel.net) at your earliest convenience so that we can plan accordingly.

Come for the day or drop in and stay as long as you can.  We will have lots of kits ready for you to dive in and assemble!  If you want to be more creative, we will also have fabrics and patterns available for you to select and use in devising your own creations.  Or, if you want to find a use for your orphan blocks or scraps, you can bring them along as well.

Your sewing machine and regular sewing supplies are all that you need bring.  A more detailed list of what we suggest you bring will be sent to those registered closer to the date of the bee.

Lunch will not be provided, but we have access to fridge and microwave and will have some treats to share.  Contribute if you wish!

Each year our guild members make and donate over 400 placemats to be distributed to clients of Meals on Wheels in Thunder Bay. In 2020/2021 we are pleased that we have been able to broaden our outreach to include the residents of the Sister Leila Greco facility and the PR Cook facility.

These placemats are a great opportunity for you to try a new technique, practice your machine quilting and binding skills, use up some scraps and get a satisfying “quick fix” of sewing. Recommended size for donated placemats is 12” x 18”. We have guild labels to be sewn in under the binding on the back of the placemats.
